The 1900s, a thread that binds generations

Who we are
Our history
The history of Casali Viticultori, the oldest winery in Reggio Emilia, began in 1900 when Giuseppe Casali decided to transform his family production into a real business.
The first winery, located close to the ancient Rocca dei Boiardo di Scandiano, with the growing success of the wines on the market and the necessary increase in production, became too small and so the headquarters moved in the 80s to the current headquarters in Pratissolo di Scandiano. During the excavations for the construction of the new winery, a Roman slab (50 BC-50 AD) emerged with the engraving “Ca’ Bezina”, the name of an important patrician family: from that discovery the name Ca’ Besina, the first Classic Method from Spergola in Emilia-Romagna, was born.

Scandiano and the Canossa Hills: our home
Our method
Tradition, research, precision
The historical experience and culture of the vineyard guide measured technical choices: from respect for native vines to constancy in the cellar. It is here that Spergola and Lambrusco find different expressions (still, sparkling, sparkling), while lines such as Invernaia explore the encounter between local and international varieties. The goal is one: constant quality and enhancement of the grapes in their most faithful style.

The Winery
A modern vision linked to the roots of the territory
The Casali Viticultori Winery, the oldest winery in Reggio Emilia, was born on the first hills of Scandiano, where it has preserved the tradition and memory of the territory for over a century. Surrounded by ten hectares of Spergola vineyards, an ancient native variety dating back to the fifteenth century and mentioned by Bianca Cappello, Grand Duchess of Tuscany, Casali represents a heritage of authenticity and roots.
It is among the hills and foothills of Scandiano and Quattro Castella that the soul of Casali wines comes to life. Here the so-called “chalk vein” emerges, a geological formation that enriches the soil with precious minerals, giving the wines a vibrant freshness, natural elegance and subtle flavor.
Distinctive characteristics that make each bottle a sincere expression of the Reggio Emilia terroir and the deep bond between the winery, its history and its land.
